August Long Weekend YYC

If You’re Not Having Fun, You’re Doing it Wrong!

We want to take a moment before this August long weekend to make sure you’ve all got plans. It’s halfway through summer holidays and there is absolutely no excuse to be bored this weekend if you feel like getting out and doing something. Calgary skyline at night

Right here in our own neighbourhood of Inglewood, we’ll be celebrating Sunfest this weekend. On Saturday, August 1, our annual street festival will see over 200 vendors set up along 9 Ave. SE, along with music, street performers and lots of good food and fun activities.

Or maybe you want to check out the Calgary International Blues Festival, which runs now until August 2. Don’t miss the four-day party from July 30 till August 2nd at Shaw Millennium Park!

Back in Inglewood, the Calgary Fringe Festival also takes place July 31 till August 8. Inglewood is going to be a very busy place for the next week! Check out the full line-up of Fringe Festival plays and performances on their website.

And if you feel like getting active, you’ve got a couple of very cool options. First, Slide the City brings a GIANT waterslide to 10th Street NW. Yes, you can actually slide down the 10th St. hill! The bad news is that the event is sold out — so unless you already got your tickets or you can find someone who wants to sell theirs, you may have to be content to just watch.

Lastly, from August 1st to 3rd, Bowcycle hosts their annual Tour de Bowness event, with three days of bicycle racing.

Now get out there and have some fun, Calgary!
