Expanding our Online Advertising

At the laptopOnline advertising is exploding!  I recently read a newspaper column about an ad agency that held a funeral for the “death of print advertising”.  (By the way, kudos to the creative ad agency, but they obviously aren’t strong on their online marketing skills, because I COULD not locate that article on the web after searching numerous times. Otherwise I would have given them credit by name!)

Anyway, I had a good laugh over the whole stunt, thinking “It’s not 100% true, but it’s about 90% true, which is true enough for me.”  You see, I would not want to be the guy running a print magazine.   And if I were, I would definitely be converting it all to an online content hub, and very likely turfing my printer!

Online advertising has it ALL over print.   Viewers can CLICK on an ad to visit the website, where they can BUY immediately, or at least give their information.    The ads can be targeted only to those people who are interested and searching for that type of service.  The ad can be tailored exactly to what specific users are looking for.  And it can even follow users and pick them based on a mobile location and grab them in.   Advertisers get supreme efficiency, for a fraction of the price of print — it’s truly a revolution in the world of marketing.
